The Changeling Child
What if the way we humans treat nature impacts the faerie realm? And what if the faeries—fearsome faeries—decide to fight back?
Twelve years ago, a child vanished from his cradle. He was never seen nor spoken of again. Saga is desperate to discover what happened – did he really just disappear? Or was he whisked away to the Faerie kingdom, to be raised as one of their own?
As she searches for the truth, her best friend Alfred has his own vital mission. The mayor’s relentless construction projects are devastating the natural world, and now the fearsome faeries want revenge. Only Alfred, a demi-fae, can restore peace between the two realms. But as he journeys deeper into the magical kingdom than ever before, the two friends start to suspect that the lost child could be the key to everything…
FAERIES CAN BE FEARSOME!

THE CHANGELING CHILD is the second adventure set in the world that was introduced in INTO THE FAERIE HILL. The story can be read independently of the first book, though readers will get more out of reading the books in sequence.
In this book, eco-warrior Saga is as much the protagonist as Alfred, who, after uncovering the truth about his heritage, is afraid of returning to the Faerie Hill. Three months have passed since the two of them put a stop to Mayor Underwood’s motorway and saved Faerie, and Saga longs to go back to the mystical world they discovered. After all the excitement, her life feels ordinary and too quiet. But when the mayor announces plans to turn the entire Faerie Hill into a tourist attraction, the local woodland and the faeries yet again come under threat. While Alfred is forced to venture deeper into the faerie realm than ever before, Saga must remain in the real world and unravel a mystery that may just be the key to everything.
At its heart, the story is about family, friendship, and discovering who you are and where you belong. Caring for nature and the environment are also important themes in the book.
The beautiful cover is designed by Thy Bui.

My inspiration for the book
THE CHANGELING CHILD is (like INTO THE FAERIE HILL) inspired by the nature where I live. While hiking among the trees in my local woods, I imagined strange creatures peeping out of their shadows.
Other forests and underground caves on four continents have inspired the setting of this story too—from my childhood forests in Denmark to wood-covered mountains in the alps and endless forests in North America. And from Mønsted Kalkgruber—the largest limestone mine in the world with its maze of tunnels, underground lakes and colonies of bats—all the way to the underground river in the Waitomo Glowworm caves in New Zealand and dripstone caverns in Vietnam.
I’m thankful that I have had the opportunity to travel and explore so many breathtaking places that feed my imagination.

All photos by me, except the turquoise river photo from the Waitomo Glowworm caves.
